This major is oriented towards the needs of the national "Belt and Road" initiative, the construction of the "Lancang-Mekong National Community of Shared Future," and the construction of Yunnan's eight major key industries. It focuses on the cultivation of talent in two major directions: spatiotemporal big data analysis and GIS software engineering. It guides students to carry out innovative research and application practice, promoting the integration of "computer-surveying-geography" disciplines, and cultivates inter-disciplinary talent with a scientific spirit, humanistic quality, and technological innovation in spatial information. This major is currently a "New Engineering" construction site of the Ministry of Education and the first batch of emerging professional construction sites in Yunnan Province. Graduates can work in government departments, enterprises, and technical companies related to natural resources, urban management, and public safety, or continue to pursue master's or doctoral degrees in the field of geography or computer science.
