Provincial Key Discipline - Geography

In 2006, Yunnan Province, in accordance with the principles of "overall planning, selective support, categorized construction, focused breakthroughs, and emphasis on benefits," systematically and strategically carried out the construction of provincial key disciplines. Our university's "Geography" was selected as a key discipline of Yunnan Province for focused support and development.

Provincial Advantageous and Characteristic Discipline Cluster - Geography and Regional Development of the Low-Latitude Plateau

In 2011, Yunnan Province initiated the construction of a group of leading domestic advantageous and characteristic key disciplines (clusters) in universities across the province. Our university's "Geography and Regional Development of the Low-Latitude Plateau" was selected as one of the six provincial advantageous and characteristic discipline clusters.

"Geography" Discipline Assessment

Our university's "Geography" ranked ninth in the third national discipline assessment and was approved as B+ in the fourth round of discipline assessment.

First-Level Doctoral Degree Program - Geography

In 2010, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council granted our university's "Geography" as a first-level doctoral degree program.

Second-Level Doctoral Degree Programs

At present, the Faculty of Geography has established 5 second-level doctoral degree programs under the first-level doctoral degree program in Geography, which are Physical Geography, Human Geography, Cartography and Geographic Information Systems, Borderland Geography, and Mountain Environment and Natural Disasters.

First-Level Master's Degree Program - Geography

Second-Level Master's Degree Programs

Currently, the Faculty of Geography has 5 second-level master's degree programs under the first-level master's degree program in Geography, which are Physical Geography, Human Geography, Cartography and Geographic Information Systems, Borderland Geography, and Mountain Environment and Natural Disasters.

In addition to the five second-level master's degree programs included in the first-level discipline of Geography, the Faculty of Geography has also been approved to offer master's degree programs (or professional degrees) in Curriculum and Teaching Methodology (Geography), Subject Teaching (Geography), Tourism Administration (Academic Master), and Tourism Administration Master (Professional Master).

Postdoctoral Research Station - Geography

In 2015, the Faculty of Geography's "Geography" was approved as a national postdoctoral research station.
